Anybody know what happened to a 42 convertible?

About 3-4 years ago I was 'surfing' the net for Hudsons and searched for 1946 Hudson. I got a piece of a chat conversation of someone in southern Cali who had a "46 convertible" for sale. Well, I kept reading and found some pictures he had posted to an interested party. Turned out it wasn't a 46 but actually a 1942 convertible, alittle rough and needing total resto. Car was without engine (I believe) and without top and appeared to be sitting in a back yard or back alley somewhere. Car had surface rust but was dark in color. Though the posting was already a year or so old I attempted to find out more. I did end up speaking with Bill Albright who told me he also tried to track this car down but at that time had no luck.

Anybody have any further info? Probably has been too long now to ever find it but I would surely be greatful for any info. This has been one of those things that continues to haunt my thoughts-knowing there's a 42 Hudson Commodore convert somewhere out there just longing for a loving home! And, I am ready to provide that loving home:D !

The photos and the offer to sell were published on an MSN "Communities" page in the Antique Auto section. Several guys posted messages to the fellow who was selling it, expressing their interest. But he never seemed to respond back and eventually yanked the page and the photos off MSN! As I recall, at one point he gave the rough location (intersection of streets) and I think Vic Zamora or someone drove around the neighborhood, looking in vain for the car.

The guy probably thinks that, due to the response, he's sitting on a gold mine. So he'll hoard the car (of course never bothering to throw even a tarp over it). Then in ten years, his grieving widow will come back from the funeral home and immediately call the local junkman to cart it away, happy to get that pile of junk out of the backyard.

    And so it goes.

Hi Bill! Rick here from Nashville, TN. Good to hear from you again! Have finally started building my '42 Commodore Eight Club Coupe. Body's blasted and off the frame currently.

Yeah boy, wouldn't we all like to find the 'ghost' car. Jon B's probably right, probably never get the home it deserves. Or it's a chopped up unrecognizable lowrider by now:eek:
