Twin H Jet at Auction

Here's a link to a Jet that is being auctioned along with numerous other old vehicles somewhere in Nebraska. It appears to be relatively complete and original. I've never seen air cleaners like these, but I'm not all that familiar with Jets. I'm pretty sure that it has a "Twin-H" emblem on the trunk (lower left) which likely makes the whole package authentic. It also appears that it has an aluminum head which may put this humble vehicle in that "More horsepower-per-pound than a Hornet" catagory. That thought always tickles me.

The shovel is included with the car, to help load it into your truck.0

Hey, Matt...that's the funniest posting on this forum in ages. Thanks for a good laugh.0 -
You have to have a good sense of humor if you drive a Jet!
The real comedian is the author of the description for this car...
"Great Motor-does not run."0 -
I trolled thru this awesome collection of East Texas lawn art, and I think I saw most of the cars offered before deciding that my wife is right...I need to get a life. I was especially fond of the description of this Mustang, which is "parts missing." I'm going outside to look for a life now...:cool:0

Yes Matt you do need to get a life. We told you that cruising in your Jet. Wait a minute, Quentin and my Hornets were sitting in the lot and we took the Jet still. Really kind of a cool car. Like a baby Hornet. Now a 2 door stick with Twin H might make me a Jet owner.0

Rob, next time we meet up I'll let you pilot the Jet.
I agree, I'd like a 2 door. Most of the cars I've owned have been stick shift, but I really like how the Hydramatic slams through those gears.0 -
May be a while unless you want to cruise down to Laughlin next weekend and go out on the jet boat. That's about has close as I get to Vegas. The Hornet won't be going anywhere for a while after the disasterous Western Regional.0

Can any of you recall ever seeing a Volvo Bertone? The Italian body builder was commisioned by Volvo to design some two-doors sedans based on the humble 240 series. I don't know what all they modified on the cars except that the Bertone Volvos had much lower roof lines. These otherwise bland looking 240s looked remarkably sharp with the new lines. Maybe a two-door Jet with a well chopped roof would be a cool look. Seeing a Mustang in the same thread as a Jet causes me to muse a little about how much difference an inch can make in the design of a car. I seem to remember reading that when showed the mock-up of the jet, A E Barrit, who fathered the whole Jet idea, insisted that another inch be added to the height of the already top heavy little car for additional hat clearance. Most of you probably know that the Mustang, which was championed by Lee Iacoca while he was with Ford, was built on the cheesey Ford Falcon platform with very little modification to it other than a good deal of shortenting of the wheelbase specifically in the area of the rear passenger's feet. When he was showed the mock-up of the already much shortened Mustang, Iacoca, ironically, declared "Take another inch out of it!"0 -
