overdrive stuff questions

Hey All,

Just removed the overdrive trans, driveshaft, in/out cable and fragile harness, and related linkages.

Questions:

Does anyone have or know of anyone haveing harness and in/out cable?

End of cable was thinned so much from rust, it broke off about 2 inches from the end before I ever tried to remove it. All of the exposed cable is somewhat brittle & thin. I got the cable to move back and forth after massageing with penetrating oil. Is there enough slack to reach if I cut a couple of inches from the housing? I didn't notice before removal. The person who removed the engine before I got the car, yanked a red wire in two that comes out of the harness. Would like to know where it goes, in case I have to make up a harness.

Parts are from a 51 Super Six. I'm gonna install in a 50 Commodore 8. I'd like to use the 254 bell housing as I'm sure it's dialed in to the block. They look the same. Am I ok with this proceedure?
