1926 Essex Tourer
Hi guys,
All the leads from and to the battery are now new and HUGE in thickness! New grounds direct from the stater motor and the engine block. The battery is fully charged and was reading about just over 7 volts. However still not turning the engine over to start. The battery feels like its on its last legs even though I know it has been fully charged!!!!!
Any ideas?

Hi, Could it be a bad starter? Have it rewound, see if that doesn't help. Hope this helps. Steve and Bob0

It has to be either the starter itself, or the switch. Check for up-and-down play in the starter bearing, and for good tight contacts on the switch terminals. If there is alot of play in the bushings the armature is probably poling on the fields. You may need to clean the copper contacts in the switch. What does the voltage drop to when cranking? If below 4.5 volts you have a short in the starter. How tight is the engine? Can you turn it over easily on the hand crank? Just a few suggestions.
