53- 308, Took It On A 300 Mile Round Trip, It Started Acting Up On Way Home, Not Running To Smooth. I Had Tune Up Parts That I Had Bought During The Winter, Figure It Was Getting Near Time To Change Them. The Car Car Is Spitting And Sputtering, Really Running Rough. I Changed The Plugs, Points, Conderser, Coil, Rotor, And Fuel Filter. Starts Real Easy But Still Running Like Crap. Had Stopped On The Way Home From My Trip To Get Gas, So I Though I Got Bad Gas. So I Refilled Tank, Put In A Can Of Dry Gas, Drove Around And Still The Same. I Had Had The Carburater Rebuilt Last Year, But I Took Them Off And Took Them To The Shop, They Checked Them Out And Cleaned Them, Put Them Back In, And Car Is No Better. When I Put In A New Gas Filter, I Used The Clear Plastic One, You Can See The Gas In The Filter Kind Of Bubbling At Times {from Air} And Amount Of Gas Changing In Filter. Do The Filters Fill All The Way Up When Car Is Running?

bubleing gas sounds like either your pump is going out or the lines get to hot and the gas vaporizes. either condition can cause the symptoms. mybe check your fuel pump first. what happens is over time the diaphram wears out and you dont get enough fuel pressure to keep the fuel bowls filled. change the pump or convert to an electric and you shoould be good.

YOu need to check everything out - spark, fuel, compression, vacuum. Particularly vacuum - a gauge will tell you what's going on. Good luck,

You could have a pin hole leak in the fuel line,drawing in air rather than fuel. Over the kickup area above rearend is one spot to check, those former owners that drove around with a rotten tailpipe was a contributing factor. I found bubbles in my fuel filter, I pressurized the system with an electric fuel pump by the tank surprise- 2 pinholes. You could also yse compressed air, disconnect at flex hose by fuelpump blow back toward tank look for leaks. How is the flex hose at fuel pump? not collapsed in on itself? good luck Lou Cote
