  • I'm sure someone can ID the model, but who would have the authority in this country to certify a vehicle serial number to a foreign nation?
  • A letter from Chrysler should fix this, the English authorities should be satisfied then. Chrysler should have some history in their library on Hudson production, ID info, models, etc etc.

According to my information, the model is a 1947 Commodore 6 hence the first three digits (172) and the number is 85720. surely a photocopy or scan of the relevant page from the Master Parts catalog, and a scan of the pages from Butler's History of Hudson should verify this for the authorities.

  • People buying brand new vehicles have a hard time getting the manufacturer to remedy problems. Somehow I can't see Chrysler jumping in on this one just to be nice and helpful. I wonder if any governmental agency would accept information required for registration from a hobbiests book.

I think we can safely rule out any assistance from Chrysler. In my experience with licensing in this country, the local folks do have some lattitude in dealing with these situations, so I think an official looking letter from someone in the HET club with credentials (preferably one whose name appears in the masthead of the magazine, with a copy of that page along with the letter) would probably do the trick. Putting it in the form of an affidavit would probably help (and I'll put your statement in affidavit form and email to anyone who takes this on). Anybody with some credentials willing to help? Sounds like a worthy and relatively painless project, certainly easier than removing the rear brake drums from my stepdown *%%$&!

That's right and proud of it, aye. Who is to say that this car may not be stolen or? Who is to say if the serial number even belongs to the car pictured. All I am saying is why get tangled up in something that may turn ugly.

I sent the fellow the 1947 pages out of my General Info Handbook. (You know - that book EVERYBODY should have a copy of, but doesn't !! Don't know if it'll do him any good, but it's a shot.
