I came across a box with what I beleive are all the parts to install a washer to my Hornet. Can anyone tell me how to install it? I have a dual action fuel pump and Twin-H if that makes any difference. I have had them on other Hudsons in the past, but I can't remember where everything goes. Thanks

  • Your Hornet should have left the factory with a push button in the center of the wiper control knob. If so, look on the back of the wiper control for two small lengths of brass tubing. Next, check your kit for a brass Tee fitting. That goes in the vacuum hose to the wiper motor. Then, install vacuum hose from the Tee to one side of the brass tubing on the back of your wiper control. To the other brass tubing, connect vacuum tubing from there to your washer tank.

Inside the car, below the dash, you'll see brass tubing below each wiper arm pedestal. Connect tubing to each. Then the end of each will connect to another brass Tee that should be in your kit. To the remaining fitting on the Tee, connect tubing to the remaining connection on your washer tank.

As far as I know, all tubing should pass through the large rubber bushing on the drivers side of the cowl.

Hope this didn;t confuse you too much. Good luck.

Thanks Dave! Your instructions are very clear. It only took 20 minutes to hook up.

Along these same lines, I have the original washer setup for my 53, but the diaphram is bad in the pump. Any ideas to remedy?

If you have a correct washer set up, the pump would be in the glass jar. Earlier units had a vacuum chamber mounted to the cover of the jar. Which one do you have? You could check one of the companies that services wipers for replacement parts or troll eBay. More often than not, just a cover (with pump) shows up on eBay. BTW, these units were made by Trico. So, any working unit that's made by Trico that looks like your should do the trick.

I once spoke to Dave Ficken about wiper motors. HE said he knew of someone who reproduced the tops and made parts. HE was not to eager to give up the source as he had some of both on his table. You might give him a call. He might have the parts or give you a lead on them if he doesn't have them
