clutch problem

my 51 supersix has clutch issues that seem to be getting worse. 1. the pedal will no "pop" back up all the way on its own. 2. grinds when putting it into first gear after stopping. 3. Seems to have a burning or hot smell when driving in stop and go traffic however not as bad if it is shifted to neutral with pedal released. 4. after it has sat for a day or more it will lunge forward or back depending on the last postion of the shifter then starts fine after the disk is free. Do these symtoms indicate an adjustment problem or is it time for some new parts. the car has 75000 original miles. any help suggestions would be helpful.

  • When is the last time you changed the clutch oil? From your saying it looks like you will need a new clutch assembly. Your smelling burnt oder means corks are burning, sorry to say. Walt's garage
