King Pin Woes

For the last couple of years, each time I take the car for its 6 monthly WOF certificate I have been told by my friendly mechanic "the king pins are getting tired, they will need to be done soon" - so I apply the grease gun to them before I go each time. Last time they said it will be the last unless I get them done, so this winter I have had the front end apart and checking everything else as well as replacing the bushes.

No wonder they were wearing and it was so hard to get any grease in them, the previous person to do the king pins (goodness knows how long ago)forgot to put a hole in the brass bush for the damn grease to through!

Not the first time I have heard of this. Now these new ones should see me out - amazing the difference a small hole in the right place can make :)

What's a "6 month WOF certificate?" Sounds suspiciously like your benevolent government, being helpful. . .

Warrent of Fitness - new cars get tested yearly for the first few years then it is every six months. There are testing stations here that do it as well as certified local garages to ensure vehicle road worthiness. As well as this is the annual registration fee required! Yes the government do get their share, fortunately registration for vehicles over 40 years old is under half the standard fee.
