54 Hudson, What's it worth?
My Grandpa has a 54 husdon hornet Special. It has recently burned in a fire and I was wondering what it was worth. If you have an estimate that would be great!!
It was in mint cond. It was painted yellow with a black top. It worked and ran very well, and it was driven very recently. It was a 4 door and had a Twin H power Motor. The transmission was a 4 speed automatic.
If you have any more questions you can email me at

I think detailed pictures would help.
If you could provide pictures, we can help post them, or I'll even host them for you. e-mail me at ckrantz3@msn.com
I'm gonna approach my post with the idea this car is a total loss, and this is perhaps a question of insurance replacement cost....
Some folks definition of mint condition is far off of the reality of things. I am sure your grandfather's car was quite nice, but ultimately, what it comes down to is what the insurance company may consider the real value of the car.
Metrics that coul put the value on one end of the sepctrum versus another, are the quality of the chrome plating, the interior, the condition of the paint, who did it, how well it was done, etc... the engine, was it rebuilt recently, how many miles, the transmission, was it rebuilt? how much detail work was done to the undercarriage? was this car an AACA winner, or show winner? (albeit, i have seen AACA cars that made the awards program look like a joke, poor panel fit, bad paint, incorrect, etc... so I doubt I would personally put much faith into the notion whether the car was a bona fide award car, but an insurance company will)
Really, I hope in the long run, that the insurance company takes care of matters properly, and offers a proper settlement.
Best guess, sight unseen, I would figure the car is around a nice low three to a two, but perhaps it was perfect in every respect..... (using Old Cars price guide grading standards...)
price range.... $16K-21K
But, if this car was hiding rust issues (which is a major problem in hudsons), poor workmanship, incorrect workmanship, etc... the value would be substantially less....
hope something here helped!

old pics are worthless, they were all lnew once upon a time. the fire could make it absolutel worthless, depending when the fire co got there. you may have to pay to have it hauled off, BILL ALBRIGHT0

Is there any chance you could take some pictures? Our imaginations are running wild here. Paul Dunningham.0
