I recommend that you get it in writing (BEFORE WORK BEGINS) from any engine builder who CLAIMS to know Hudson engines, that:



1) the engine will not leak oil from the front seal, nor the rear seal or he will pull the engine, as necessary, and repair any leak - any/all leaks within the first 1000 miles. Get evidence, before the engine is built, that the crankshaft sleeve that the rubber seal (timing chain cover seal) rides on is NEW.



2) that the ENTIRE rotating engine assembly (not just the crankshaft) will be dynamically-balanced by a reputable machine shop, and proof of that balancing in writing will be provided to the customer before the engine is reassembled. If he try's to talk you out of it he is trying to cheat you and put more money in his pocket.



3) get documented evidence that the engine will have a true 7X camshaft



4) get documented evidence that the port work is correctly done



5) get evidence that the engine will have a tru-roller timing chain



6) that ALL engine parts are cleaned in a vat (list each part (include the oil pickup tube and screen PLUS the access-covers to adjust valves) & have him sign the contract before the work begins)



7) drill and tap for 1/2" head bolts (grade 8)



8) you fill in all the other things in the contract that you want and demand (detail, detail, detail.........lving no loopholes for him to wiggle out); have your lawyer review/edit it before the contract is signed in the presence of your lawyer. Do it once and do it right!! =^..^=



$7K PLUS is a lot of money to spend and not get what you pay for; been there, done that.

Remember that the "7X" can be approximated, but not duplicated unless you have a factory 7X block, and they are very rare. :cool:
