Transmission Removal Question

When removing the transmission from a 1940 6 to replace the clutch, it appears that the bellhousing must come off with the transmission as a unit, because the bolts connecting the transmission to the bellhousing are inside the bellhousing. Is that true? Or am I missing something? Motors manual says to unbolt transmission from engine, so I assume this is true, but I have never seen a car with this arrangement. Usually the transmission bolts directly to the bellhousing with accessible bolts. Thanks, Paul

  • Yes you remove the bell houseing and trans as a unit. Remove the center of the floor boards and the starter. The trans and bell houseing comes out from the top. BK. TN.
