Banged around the site but did'nt find what I needed so I'l ask....... I've got a 51 hornet club coupe and would like to drop in a 350 w/ a 350 tranny... I'm hoping someone makes motor mounts for this so we do,nt have to reinvent the wheel here......... Also would like a little advice or recommendations from some others that have used the same engine tranny set-up.............. Dan

  • I'm not sure if someone makes them, I think most of the guys around here have used custom made ones. I bought mine from Fatman's, but I'm using their frame stub. You might check out their site and see if theirs might work. But, I'm sure someone here will post what they did.

    Any pics?

Jay - I am looking at the aluminum mounts that are used in the Gen 4 vettes. They can be used with the LS1/LS2, as well as 5.3L, 5.7L & 6.0 GM Vortec engines, and translate to a horizontal mounting surface (no more angles). That, coupled with the 'biscuits' available from HotrodLane should work well -

That is a clean looking set-up Rick, maybe I'll have to rethink my set-up brackets. They look a bit weaker than what you're looking at. Should be easy to make a strong plate set-up coming off the inside of the frame. Should work on my '95 Vette LT1 it seems. Thanks for the idea!

  • Get in touch with Wes Kitchens He had 383 chevy small block in his 48/49, the mounts he made, use the original mount position off the front of the block if I am not mistaken. He was having trouble with his computer and I don't know if he has it fixed yet. He has a complete record of the changes he has made to his car (with pictures). He also does some of the best fab work I have seen.
    He is in the roster.

  • Hey guys, be sure to take in

Take into consideration your headers, and steering shafts. I could not get any over the counter mounts to work for me. I used the ls1 mount and fabricated from the rubber mount to the frame with light plate. It wasn't difficult, just mocked it up with card board, cut out the pieces and tack welded it in place with the motor spotted in place and the headers and steering also in place.

    to consideration your headers.
