1950 hudson 8 lifters

I finished taking apart my engine today and noticed a few things need replacing. First off, the lifters and cam are very worn. Kanter has a camshaft, but no lifters. Does anyone know of a source for them? It is a 1950 Commodore with an eight cylinder.

  • Hi.,--- Al Saffran in Arizona regrinds them at a very reasonable price.
  • About how long does it take? Also, I think that three of them are beyond repair. The problem is that the engine was partially disassembled about thirty years ago. Some of the valves were open for that time with the head off. It was inside, but over the years some moisture must have gotten into it.

Lifters can be built up and reground. Valves are available at

  • Any GOOD machine machine shop can take care of them. No big deal.
  • I haven't gotten ahold of Al Saffrahn yet. Perhaps I should clarify that I need at least 3 cores. The good ones are worn about .100 to .150. Three of them have no studs on them. So I doubt that they can be fixed.
  • I can regrind your lifters. $4.00 per lifter. I have cores. Cell phone is 309-267-6158.
