Borg Warner overdrives interchangeable?
I'm curious as to whether a Borg Warner overdrive unit from a '51 Kaiser will attach to the rear of a Hudson transmission since both companies (from what I've read) used Borg Warner overdrive transmissons. I've got a standard transmission that originally came with my '48 Commodore that I've replaced with an overdrive transmission from a '48 Super 8. If it will work, I'll use it as a spare.

my understanding is that while the innards of the overdrives were all similar, the cases were modified to fit the different marques' transmissions. So the Kaiser overdrive would not necessarily bolt up to a Hudson transmission.0

Jason,
Jon is correct and If I read your post correctly, you want to bolt an overdrive on the back of your standard transmission? That can't be done either. You will need the whole assembly. The transmision with OD is different. Since you have Hudson transmissions with and without overdrive, you can see the difference when they are side by side.
