Does anyone have any info on this? would be a sad shame if its true. Randy was a great guy and a real Hudson expert and will be missed.

I was going to let this go for a while jus for grins but I called him today and he is fine. He got a kick out of what I told him was posted. He had no idea where that came from but he was pretty sure he was still kicking.

Someone must have been listening to "Two Fat Guys in A Hudson" backwards...just like the rumor started about the Beetles back in the day. :rolleyes: Although I don't know Randy, I'm glad to hear that he's still vertical.

Randy kind of burns the candle at both ends. He has his own business which just happens to be a funeral home plus 21 st Century plus a family plus his racing, so I am sure the website is not a daily thing he worries about. He wouldn't have time to die if he wanted too.

What is it with Hudson owners owning funeral homes? He's at least the fourth I've heard of that does.

Unfortunatley it is a good business considering the age of the average Hudson owner. It's the first club I have been in that has an obituary section in their club newsletter.

I attribute that to the fact that the HET is more than a club. We're a family. As Merrit Marks, I believe, once said: "The cars brought us together, but it's the people that keep us together."

By the way, are there any Hudson funeral cars around? Of course I'm talking pre-stepdown. The thought of a stepdown hearse would be an amusing sight. New wide, low coffins would have to be designed...

Eldon Hostetler's '33 Terraplane sedan delivery was originally used as a funeral coach for children or babies, I was once told. (This is a low-production business model which is essentially a brougham -- or 2-door sedan -- with access doors in the back.)









I believe Alan Walrath's panel delivery was once used by a funeral home. This unidentified photo from the web MAY be his car...or may NOT be!





As to the big, stretched ambulances / hearses, I'm sure a few were made but I imagine they were custom-fitted by body builders (such as Henney, Meteor, etc.).









This '24 Hudson hearse actually started life as a hearse, was later converted to a truck, and "re-hearsed" back around 1950.
