American ragtop
Found a '64 AMC American convertible, 6-cylinder auto, power steering but not brakes, supposedly it's been parked in an enclosed garage for over 20 years, and supposedly "runs" (sure!). I can't look at it until mid-week this week, so does anyone have knowledge of these cars? Any rust-prone areas to check? I've only heard about the car and have not seen any pictures, but the car is less than an hour away and the price seems coincident with the description.

Cute cars, but that 196OHV engine is a real piece of work. Probably got parkled cause it had a cracked head. Never pulled one of those engines down taht didn't have a cracked head. Worst one ever, the head came off in TWO pieces!0

Went to look at it, and sure enough, it does run, but has a cracked head in a least three places. It's a rough car, overall. I passed.0

Amazing how a large corporation could at the same time build one of the best engines(the V-8s) and one of the worst (196cid 6) at the same time!0
