7X exhaust adapter
I've had several requests lately for the 7x exhaust adapter reproduction. I've had some difficulties getting rigged up with a foundry of acceptable distance from my home without delivery and other factors driving the price beyond what I feel is acceptable.
I may have solved that problem, and thought the folks here might like the story.
My college career started out in the Industrial Technology cirriculum at Tennessee Tech University. Oddly enough, TTU had one of the only operational foundries to be found at a university and I loved the class. That was 20+ years ago. The instructor I had at the time always made cracks about my name, because he loved Hudson's as a young man and still carried a big torch for the automaker. That was over 20 years ago and Dr. Orr has since long retired.
However, the Casting Technology class persists. The college also has a strong chapter of the American Foundry Society. I approached the current Department Chairman about the prospect of casting this piece and using it as a recurring fundraiser for the AFS chapter. It is also a good piece for instruction as they didn't have a simple core pattern for classroom instruction.
It all looks like a go; the Instructor, Lab Technician, and myself are pretty excited about the situation. Best part is, as a TTU foundry alumnus, I can participate in the actual pours.
I couldn't think of a better situation. The price per piece for the raw casting will go toward the foundry students and their club. A whole new generation of young people will look back and remember the core casting example they were taught with was a piece of automotive history - particularly Hudson history.
Bad news is, they won't be casting iron until November - so I won't have any ready by the Pigeon Forge meet. But, they will be available again in the not so distant future.
So, in the words of Doc Hudson "We are back in business".

THIS IS GREAT NEWS MARK AS YOU KNOW I HAVE SOLD A FEW OF THEM FOR DANNY BARRIER AND WILL BE WILLING TO TAKE A FEW WHEN THERE OUT SEE YOU IN TN. AT THE Pigeon Forge meet0

Paul, You waltzed away with the last three I had at Pigeon Forge last year!
When I get a batch run I'll advertise them in the WTN again.
One thing I do need to talk to you about at Pigeon Forge is the Hash version. I'd like to be able to machine them up to fit a Hash if someone needed one. I may need one at some time myself.
I have a good '55 Twin-H intake, I need an exhaust.

Actually Bill, it did prod me along.
I wasn't expecting it to go the way it has, I was initially looking for some help from the AFS in Tennessee to help find a jobber foundry.
So far, I'm much happier with the situation that developed.
I'll let the forum know when a batch comes out of the sand. I'm looking forward to helping with the pour.

I still have an original 7X manifold that has been recoinditioned for sale for 450.00. I will deliver it to Hershey/Carlisle or Pigeon Forge, if anyone is interested. Let me know.
I will not ship this item.0 -
Did these reproduction adapters ever get cast? I found this thread by a search and was just curious. I'd be interested if any are available.0

Mark, I need the Hash version if you get them made up.
