Just me again, and few more beers later, and phone call to our club president regarding this huge Ambulance...
Here we go, This 37 Hudson Eight started life as a sedan. It was sold second hand by Commercial Motors with 41,702 miles, year unknown. It was purchased for 225pounds. The body was removed, chassis lengthend and a Ambulance Body fitted by Gilbert Motor Bodies at 385 pounds. The wheel base came to a huge 12'2", 146" total wheelbase. the height being 6'9" and width 6'6". The Hudson was capable of 2 stretches, 2 passengers and the driver. The total length became 18'10 1/2" long. It was believed to have been used for the South Australian railways.
Regarding to an earlier question, this photo has only recently came out and never been published by WTN or any other publications except for the next Hudson Hub here in Australia. You have my permission to reuse the photo for WTN in the future SAM.
