Found 51 Super Six Convertible
Okay, so me and hudsondad went and looked at a 51 super six convertible yesterday. We were told it was a pacemaker, and believed so, with the absence of side trim, small taillights, etc.... but found out it was a 51 super six, instead.
I think several of you on the board here, lurker or otherwise, probably know about this car.
Since we were expecting a SWB car, and that is the preference for hudsondad, this was not the project for us. I will let you all know this car will be at Fall Hershey, available for sale.
I did not get under the car, but hudsondad did, and I think he could add it is solid, with no typical hudson underbody issues.
The top mechanism appears to all be there, and in good condition.
Original color seems to have been cream and black top, maroon interior, which looked serviceable (meaning repairable, and useable)
It has a 262 and hydramatic.
I cannot figure out the continental kit, it looked aftermarket, but the more I look, perhaps it was factory, I don't know. It looked like all 5 wire caps were there, and the continental insert. I think they are 54 caps, but again, I don't know.
I don't remember the mileage, I think the car was on the road until 71, via the sticker.
Here are the pictures.....

Thanks for sharing Hudsonkid. The cap shown has a 54 insert. The continental appears to be a 55-56 kit adapted to the car... good job too.
That car looks TONS better than my 50 Pacemaker convertible did when I dug it out of the OK red dirt. Should make a nice car for the determined HETer!
BTW- Sorry I did not get back you way during my recent trip.
Happy day from the HOT0 -
Underneath looked pretty good. Engine turned, Hydramatic car. My first preference is a Wasp/Super Wasp convertible, though. and would consider a 51 pacemaker.0

I'd like to see this go to someone that will give it the restoration it deserves. It would be an easy car for the likes of the Pittsburg guys, considering what they fixed, they might welcome a convertible that is as solid.0

Isn't this a rare combo ? How many 51 super conv't 's could have been made? 10 ?0

I was thinking the same thing, rare or not, it wasn't what we were looking for. I don't recall seeing one. Personally, if I were going to do this car, and spend the time and money, I would make a hornet clone.0
