what is most unusual about this '54 Hornet Special is that it appears to have green factory leather upholstery - I've only seen one other of these so equipped which belonged to one of my so. Calif. cronies & long time HETer, Gary Klann. It too had green leather & original green paint last time I saw it. Not sure where it is now.

It had the Borg Warner trans. tho.
  • I also have one with the green interior, exterior was yellow with a green roof.

For some of those who have posted lately wanting to buy a coupe, this is about as rare as they get. Definatley appears to be workable assuming the price stays near where it is.

yes, they are quite rare as the Hornet Special was only offered late in the '54 production run & most of those built, as usual, were sedans. They were also available as coupes as well as the "brougham".

The std. uph. used had the "herringbone" pattern used in the Wasp series, one of the ways used to cheapen them as well as less stainless on the exterior than a regular Hornet.
  • my favorite body style is a stepdown coupe especially 54 but this is a close second choice..nice.
