1949 Hudson Pick Up

Hello I was wondering if anyone had any info on a 1949 Hudson Pick-Up. My friend has one of the 4 that were built out of 4 door sedans. From what we can find out 1 was built by the factory and the three others were built at Hudson dealers.

We would like to find out any info we could, if what I wrote above is true and how we could be sure if this is one of the 4, is this a rare car?

Any Info would really help

Thanks Mike

there is one factory 49 pick-up that much is correct. (i have heard that there were 2 built but one DOES survive)

the number built by dealers is unknown. there are also numerous that have been constructed over the last 50+ years. A 49 sedan is not a particularly rare car. What your friend has is essentially a customized 4door sedan, which makes it a piece of art and as any streetrod/custom would be appreciated/scorned as such by the viewer. Now a documented history taking it back to its roots at a particular dealership including the customization would then give it some historical significance. regardless, properly executed they are a neat vehical but many examples just didn't work all the details to match the car i.e. taillights, rear windows and quarter panel seams.
  • I just added a note to the question I asked before I made an offer on this truck. I think it's the same one that was in the White Triangle for $2,900.00,

    looks better in primer now.
