Updates on RR?

You asked for it you got it!

You knos how I always preach about getting a vision for a car and sticking with it - there are times to break with that philosophy and now that I own a decent stock Hudson to work with that is a potential driver - this is a good chance to break my own rules.

Rambos Ride will become more of a full on custom than originally planned. I will absolutely do a chop, and maybe a body section. And despite the work done setting up the engine within the original front suspension boundaries that may now change....

I've stalled out on the rear door hinges, a single hinge design is needed and I just don't have the fabrication equipment to build a correct hinge of this style...so, remember the link you [bent metal] sent me on the 180 degree hinges?

I'm working with the manufacturers to see if their 180 kit will work with these kinds of cars, at nearly 1000 bucks - I want their engineers to gaurantee it will work before plunking down my hard earned cash.

So that's about it, I'm going to push the envelope on Rambos Ride which will add at least 1 year to that build and then I plan on getting the 50 running over this winter for next season!

How's that for a change of plans?

  • Well, at least that 50 will get done and driven....

It is nice to see that a second hudson opened the door to your real ideas. I hope that this thing gets created, since it seems that it definitely has a lot of potential to be quite a creative ride.

I bet if you drive around in a flathead with twin h, you'll change your plans on that ol BBC....

I think you should have customized the 8, and found a bunch of vintage edmunds speed equipment for it. that would have been cool.

Anyway, I really hope to see the 50 on the road. The 49, well, that keeps us all rivited to our seats, waiting, so we can sorta create it together. Personally, I think you ought to make it a 2 door, via custom fabrication, and welding. Any which way you go, I always like seeing your craftsmanship on here, it really is top notch.
  • Man, you'd better get Rambo a ride before he's not around to enjoy it any longer, it looks like that 50 is going to be good deal no matter what you paid for it. By the way, my Rambo is named Wiley and the back seat of the Hash is his, he's eleven now and he lives to go places with me, his second car trip way back when I rescued him, he got neutered and he wouldn't get in a car for a year. Come to think of it I got circumsized when I was three days old and I couldn't walk for a year so I guess I understand. Good luck with the 50, I hope it's a runner so you can do what you want with the 49.

Honestly, If I can free myself up I'd like to come over for an afternoon on a weekend and help/observe what you're doing.

I wish there were more folks around me that enjoyed working on old cars - it's really tough to do certain things by yourself!
