Thanks Dave, so far I haven't heard of any Hudson folks with loss of property. I remember in the Laguna fire years ago, there was a Railton loss . Many homes have been lost in the last few days here in So Ca. The prayers are needed.

Thoughts and prayers from all of us here in Memphis go out to you folks in CA.

Having gone thru the big fires in Maine in 1947, I know what you're going thru - after 60 years it's still as fresh as yesterday to me.

  • Just got off the phone with Pam Stahl. (AM) Fire missed their home in Escandido. Buzz was up all night watching the fire advance on his home. He had everything ready to go and removal of his Hudsons to a safe area. They still have lost more than 1000 homes in the San Diego area alone. I retired from Calif. Dept. of Forestry in 1997 and remember too well the fires that I fought in So. Calif. in years past. Too many fires and not enough engines and firefighters for all the fires. The lost of life is low, but one life is one too many. Please keep everyone in your prayers..

  • One of my oldest friends bought a house near the golf course in Lake Arrowhead recently, and just moved in three weeks ago. He was evacuated yesterday morning and was told a couple hours ago that all but one house on his street had burned. They don't know which one is left standing. I think the waiting to know will be tough, but not nearly as tough if he has lost his new home. They (the people near the fires) certainly need our thoughts and prayers right now.

Me and my crew are heading for Arrowhead from Long Beach in the morning Friday 10-26-07, 03:00 AM to help many other crews install new poles, wire, transformers and what ever else is needed to get power back up. I work for Southern California Edison and they got hit hard with all the fires. Hope to check in a little while up there. Take care, Ron P :)
  • Ron, you might know my friend, he works for the training division of S.C.E. (Commercial Licensing) His name is Gene Snow. I talked to my sister today and she thinks his house is still standing, but she mentioned another friend of ours, Bob Barr that lives in Running Springs. We haven't heard anything from him. He also works for S.C.E. Both work out of the same office, Chino, I believe.

    Be careful up there.
