For starters - from mid-year 1938 up thru 1954 engine and vehicle ID numbers were the same.

Do the numbers in your car match?? If they don't then it would be difficult to determine. Most years, between 1938 and 1951 the car serial numbers begin with -101 each year. So 24403 could fit into a number of years. For example, in 1946, your number fits between serial numbers 24244-33191, which were assigned to cars built in May of 1946. The model could be either a six or an eight as numbers were assigned concurrently as the cars came off the line.

Moving ahead to 1951, your engine number fits between serial numbers 16359 and 29401, cars which were built in Nov. 1950.

1952 thru 1954 started with 132916 and ran straight thru, carrying over each year, until the last 1954 came off the line with serial number 319720.

    If it's a 262 engine, it's out of anything between 1948 and 1951; if it's a 308, then it'll have to be a 51, since that was the first year for 308's; a 232 it would be 1950 or 1951.

Given the serial number of your '52 (160732) that was one of 8,732 cars produced in March 1952.
