I've been working too much and haven't even had a chance to try and get the 50 ready to start.

Anyone live close by that wants to come by and give me and Rambo a hand getting the 50 started?

I figure and extra pair of hands and eyes would be good in case of a catastrophe like fuel spewage and fire!

Free beer and grub!

  • Dan;

    where are you? Oh yeah, Pacific Northwest and I'm in the Pacific Southwest. If I was closer I would love to come help you except I probably have the same problem you do, not enough time. I sure hope you get that 50 running so Rambo has a ride.

    Where did you move to? And when were you thinking of trying to do it?

    Go ahead and push the starter! We're right behind you (in spirit, LOL!). We'll lend a hand.....vicariously.

    We can drink beer at the computer and give you good advice! If your engines free, just get fuel and spark to it and it should start up! Just don't drop any nuts in the intake! Also if your solenoid has a starter push button on it ,its much easier.

    Dan,

    Come to think of it, I've been too busy lately, too, so I'm game. I've threatened to come up before, but never got around to it- this might be a good function! When do you want to do it? PM me through the board, or mmittge at compprime dot com. Don't know if I'll bring the Hudson- had a breakdown on the last long distance cruise, so am a little gun-shy.

    Hi Mike,

    I might just take you up on your offer, I can setup anytime, weekend or weekday whichever works best.

    Drive the Hudson up, if it breaks down we can always tow it back with my trailer!

    I did go fill up the 2 gallon gas can today with Ethel to use as a surrogate until I get the tank checked out....

    Wish I could be there to watch the initial fire up,

    maybe some "jet" fuel will help starting.

    Let us all know how it goes so we can "applaud" and have a cold one!

    Dan;

    make sure you flush that tank before you start plugging up filters. I wish I had.

    Dan,

    How about next Monday, Veterans Day? I'm taking the day off, we could also toast our fallen comrades. I could get there 10 or 11ish, about all I need is your address so I can Mapquest it. Will probably let weather decide on mode of transport- the coupe has non-functional wipers, and no heater at all, so I try to avoid rain (which can be a trick here in the great Northwest in November).

    Let me know- Mike

    Mike - that would be perfect!

    Except for the fact that since I started this post (yesterday) and today I just had a whole mess of work dumped on me - on top of the already huge pile-o-tasks I already had.

    I'll be working thru the weekend - honestly at this point I don't even know if I can take Thanksgiving weekend off :(

    I tell you it seems like feast or famine sometimes - in June I really needed work - now I can't wait to take time off!

    I told them something must change - ie - hire more people...right now I've avg close to 80hours a week for the last 6 weeks - just pulled 22hours straight the other night

    I made a prior verbal committement to help this company out until the end of the year and I'm starting to feel that they're taking advantage of me a bit - so I am going to take a week or 2 and re-think whether I want to keep working for this company next year.

    What the heck is money good for if you're too tired and miserable to spend it!

    So...Long story...short, I gotta postpone making any definite plans for the next 6 weeks before I cut for vacation at the end-of-the-year.

    I really appreciate everyones offers of help and sentiments - I'll still keep everyone updated

    if I free up enough time to play around with the 50 between now and then. If not maybe I'll put a shoutout again for an extra hand or 2 to get the 50 running.

    Jay - great idea! If I get some people over that's a must do! Otherwise Rambo's lack of opposable thumbs make operating the video camera tough ~ still gotta love the mutt though...he tries!

    Ah, work- the bane of the leisure class! I know the feeling, although right now I've got a little less on my plate than usual. I'm pretty flexible, as I'm self employed also- so give me a holler when you're ready, even short notice is OK. Hope you can "see daylight" soon!

    Thanks Mike!

    I know this working "stuf" really cuts into my free time! :mad: :p

    Seriously, this is exactly why I contract, as a programmer; you make good money but usually get abused and burned out - then need to take a couple months (or year or 2) off to regroup!

    Hi Dan, If I lived about seven hundred miles closer, I would be over to help. But it is a long comute from the Reno area. The beer is okay to supress a carb. fire. I prefer wine, but after the work is done. I am sure you will get the '50 running, just take your time. I hope you have a garage to work in being that you live in the northwest. When I lived up there, there was a problem with a constant stream of wet stuff falling out of the sky and I did not have a garage. Now I have a big garage and no rain which we really do need some here in Nevada. Good luck. Arnie
