Droppin a 48' Hudson

I just put new coker white walls on my 48' Hudson and inadvertinatley raised it up so it sits about 10" off the pavement. I want to lower it and was wondering if lowering blocks in the rear and shaving the springs in the front was the way to go. Any comments or tips appreciated. Thanks, Finn

You might want to pose that question up in the Hudson Forum, under the (Hudson) Hot Rods sub-forum which is found there. A lot of those people may not wander down here to see your message...

Thanks, I did post at the Hudson forum and they have been helpful. I just figured the lead slead forum would be crawling with guys that have actually done this and have a solid knowledge of droppin a car. Thanks, Finn

Finn, I lowered the front of my 51 pacemaker about 2 inches, the top of my front tire sits about 1" above the lip of the fender. The ride is still good, but our roads here in FL are pretty nice compared to some other places I've been. I plan on lowering the back at least 3" but I hear this is alot without other mods, (c notch). Let me know how yours turns out.

Thanks for the responses, I'm going to make 1.5" lowering blocks for the rear and buy 1.5" shorter springs for the front. Anyone have any idea where I can buy shorter springs that provide the same spring tension as stock? Thanks, Finn

Be careful using lowering blocks. 1 1/2" may not be bad, but I've heard of guys going this route and then can't put anybody in the back seat. I'm going airbags all corners and c-notching the rear frame. But then, that's why mines not done yet! lol
