hydro removal

stupid question maybe.

Ive got my engine and trans hanging off an engine hoist. Im trying to pull the tranny off but so far no luck and getting frustrated. Ive removed all the bolts I can see and it does shift a little but only about a 1/2 inch or so.

Am I missing something?

Do I just need to beat on it till it comes off?

Seemed like a simple thing....

Did you remove the bolts from the flywheel/ring gear? There a bunch of them 30 or so as I recall. You will need to rotate the engine to gain access to all of them.

Better drain it first. There is a plug on the fluid coupling. Get a big pan.
  • first things first, put all the bolts that hold the engine to the transmission back in !!!

NOW you can undo all 30 bolts that hold the torus cover to the flywheel.
  • Got everything off. Quite a bit of fluid left in there. I was surprised!

thanks for the help. This is the first time Ive attempted to restore a car like this. Definitley a learning experience! :D
