WA-1 Tips and Tricks?

I've got parts soaking that I can still use and I was looking at the pieces laying around and was wondering if anyone has messed with tweaking these carbs a little - bigger jets, other tips or tricks to tweak these carbs while they're off the car and getting rebuilt?
I would think the old time racers must have had some mods they did to these carbs?
