price on a 35 terraplane

Just found a 35 terraplane all orginal 23000 miles. Been inside 45 years. It is running and has orginal paint. I would like an idea what it is worth. Man died and his wife is selling. Anyone have an idea on a price? thanks bob

hudson34,well it depends on it's condition.Are you sure the speedo works??.If it does run like you say,how long has it been sitting since the last time it ran??.Have you been working on it to make it run?How is the interior,original paint can be a good thing or it could mean that it needs a complete paint job and body work.As you can see,posting pictures would be the best way to help determine the worth.Wait for you reply,:)

Sorry, Its a 4 door sedan paint ok interior ok It is just an orginal car. H e drove it until about a year ago.

It sounds like about a number 4 car. According to my price guide, it would be around 3 to 4 thousand. Sometimes it hard to calculate the price. It depends on what a person is willing to pay,and some sellers think they have a gold mine in these cars. Good luck, and post some pictures if you buy the car.

"Price Guides" are notoriously off-the-mark as far as antique car values are concerned, but the seller may not know that, and you could show him this, off the internet. That would help corroborate any estimate you would make.



Go here http://www.manheimgold.com/car_lo.html and select Terraplane, then 1935. As to the model, you'll have to take a guess (you didn't mention which model). As you will see, the price for a 2-door sedan (roughly comparable to a 4-door sedan) in "good" condition is $3100. If the car is all there, not badly rusted or dented, and it runs, then it is probably worth that. Just because it has low miles, means nothing. You could find a rusted-into-the-ground derelict with only 25,000 miles on the clock, sitting in some field, and it wouldn't be worth towing home for the parts!

I think that this is the first time that I have seen Manheimgold priced above Old Cars Price Guide. Old Cars Guide Lists the Terraplane referenced above in number 4 condition at 2,900 (estmate between the four 4-door sedans that Terraplane built this year) High number 1 "show" condition is about 14,000 + Change. There are a ton of things that you have to take into consideration to get an accurate price for this car. Too many to go into detail here. If you add up the costs to do a full restoration and deduct that price from 14 K you get a good idea of what this car is worth. Now that I have said that, this is a good year for Terraplane and is rather hard to find. The real question here is how bad do you want the car, and how much work do you intend to do your self to get it into the condition you would be happy with. Most of us would be willing to admit that we have more invested in our cars than they would sell for. Still, we seem to love our cars for a number of reasons and the cost is secondary to the joy we get from our cars, how we use them, and the friends we share the hobby with. Most book stores have a copy of Old Cars Price Guide. In the first few pages they have a primer on how to evaluate the car you are looking at, and from that and the prices they list on the car you select you can make a reasonable estimate on it's value. I do not mind paying more for a car than it is worth, provided it is a knowledgable decision. Good luck on your decision--they are seldom easy ones.

Hi I Just Bought A 34 Hudson 8 Sedan With 18,600 Miles That I Know Is The Right Mileage It Has A Real Nice Int It Needed A New Front Floor Mat And Running Board Mats But It Was Not Running It Took A Day To Get It Tuned Up And Puring It Was A Lot More Than 3 Or 4 Grand Nice Orignal Cars Are Worth A Higher Amount

paullargetype and the other posters hit it on the head. the car is worth whatever the buyer and seller agree on. as jon said, as a buyer you can use the guides to justify your offer. the seller determines the final selling price. good luck. regards, tom
