rear window chrome question
My 52 Wasp club coupe has the rear window chrome damaged and the right half pulled off. this is the inner chrome trim closest to the glass , the question is will the chrome pieces from a 52-53 4 dr. work. I dont know how close a 4 dr. rear window is to the club coupe .

what are you doing clogging this forum with hudson car related talk and questions...
no, 4 door will not work. You need coupe only trim, 52-53 only. Hornet, commodore, wasp, super wasp.0 -

Yeh , My question was a little off topic wasnt it , anyway- Thanks0 -
'52, '53, & '54 coupes interchange, that's what I've read on this forum anyway. '51 coupes are all by themselves in the back-glass dept. 4 door sedan's are different dimensions compared to the club coupe's.

I think 54 is unique, someone correct me. Glass is a different story. Stateline is asking about the stainless trim. It is difficult to find becuase, like someone else said, not many people part out coupes, and I bet we maybe have seen one or two ever in junkyards. Someone has the pieces. keep asking.
and 51's don't have the trim. and their back windows are unique.0 -

I think you'll have to pull the window and most likely get new rubber to install this. I believe 52-4 are all the same, coupe only. It is Hard to find.0

walt's garage-53 wrote:Walt's Garage here, you have to remove the glass from the car, watch the headliner as the new rubber also locks the headliner around the window. K-GAP has the new rubber, install it on the glass but do not pull it tight and then glue it together at the bottom where the 2 ends meet. Now comes the hard part, installing the stainless to the rubber. You have to use a lot of masking tape to lock the stainless solid to the rubber. Read you Hudson manual, body section and you will be OK. Then install the glass back on the body. This is no job for an amateur. Glass companies tell you no guarantee on the glass. Run from that place.

ehhh.... everyone's done that before...
Okay, couldn't resist. Is that the same car?
wow.
Anyway, I was thinking the curved fill stainless pieces on the c pillars, not just the rear window trim. I will be doing this in a few months, on my 50.0 -
Its restoration is well documented , one of 97 1970 Dodge Coronet RT 440-6 4spd dana 60 cars .0

Stateline, Well this is off topic also but, is that a Border Patrol MOPAR ?
If so PM me a complete Picture of it. I know of a x-Patrolman that collects all of the B.P. Stuff and he would like this one.
Thanks so much. Rudy
(im also sure that some of them Border Jumpers would be shockup to see it on the road out here in NO-MANS-LAND )0 -
Well, now comes the unconventional cheap Hudson innovator.
I installed the window alone in my 49 commadore reusing the original rubber. However, when I tried to use the string trick to install the stainless (chrome), it cut the rubber lip since it was too inflexible. So I cut the rest of the lip off.
THen, I got a tube of Seal-All in transluscent from the hardware store, put it in my calk gun. The stuff goes on white and dries almost clear. I ran a good bead inside the stainless and pressed it into place and ran a bead around the inside and outside of the stainless.
It looks good, and has been there for 5 years now at speeds to 80mph. It's worth a try before you pull the glass out.0 -
