Yes , I'd say that this is not what Hudson had in mind when they developed paint schemes....
  • Yup....Give a Monkey a spray can and they can call it a custom.

File this under "Very small world" - I owned that car back in the 1970's.

It has/had a 1956 308 in it and, believe me, it didn't have that paint job on it. It needed resto - again, I just didn't have the money to do it.

History: I got the car from Larry Wellman of Groveland, MA. The storage barn he had it in, along with other cars and parts, had a roof collapse under a snow load and it had a serious dent in the top left corner. However, all the glass was intact, the headliner was coming down and needed to be replaced and the interior needed resto.

Basically, however, it was a good solid car, then. It looks like it's been restored, other than the engine. It ran when I had it - and I even got it out of the driveway and down the street and back.

I'm trying to remember just when I had it - seems to remember it was the mid-to late 70's, but I sold it sometime in the 80's. There came a time when I had to either try and get it restored - or sell it. Due to some financial problems the decision was to sell. The idiot that bought it somehow ended up, for some reason putting just water in it - and the block froze and cracked it.

It had, when I got it, the twin-h setup. Interesting to note the venetian blind is still in the back window - I don't know if that was a Hudson accessory or an aftermarket addition. The car went west to Acton, Maine, after I sold it - last I saw it was near Wolfboro, NH about 8, 10 years ago.

Oh, one more thing - the car is "historical" - a young lady posed topless sitting on the front of the hood. The picture appeared in a 1974 or 1975 issue of the New England Chapter newsletter, The Nor' by NorEast - the young lady was my daughter Debbie and she was only 2 or 3 years old!!!!

This one went for $4,550 - not a bad price for a car needs an engine and an interior.

And to think I let her go for under $500, as I recall, 20 years or so back.
