I have a Carter carb. and would like to know if and what Hudson it would be correct for. Casting # 286. Tag # 505 SA. Metering rod - 75-638. Thanks. Norm:confused:

  • Your tag number does not match up but your casting number matches a 1941- 1947 3x5 engine. I hope this helps Chuck G.

    Casting number is for carburetor WDO-461S used on Models 41, 43 after serial number 3116 (1940 Six Cyl), 1941 before S/N 2140 and Models 10, 18, 20 and 28 with 212 engine.



    Metering rods (2) for the 461 Carb were:

    Standard - 75-404

    1 size lean - 75-414

    2 sizes lean - 75-415

    3 sizes lean - 75-416



    I have most carburetor sheets 1935-1941 and 1948-1954 - the metering rod you listed is not shown on any of them. If I find the info, will post later.

    Just ran a google search on "Carter 505-SA" - hit gave me 1937-1940 Oldmobile 8 cylinder.

    thanks for the info. i will have to remember to use Google search. I just have a list of Hudson carbs and year they fit. It helps but not as much as your info.
