1952 Hornet restoration
Returning to my Hornet coupe restoration, as I mentioned emails last year, I am keeping the integrity of beautiful Hornet exterior & interior; however intend to change power to modern drive train system. In last couple of days had left side of front support seat reupholstered and will complete other side by Saturday. Jon had sent me wood gain instructions which I'll do, must change the rear rope and add chrome support, will start on seats soon. Had antenna and extra handles polished/prepped for chrome plating by master polisher with 28 years of experience; isn't a trace of any pits. Missing some parts that never were returned to me and am looking at purchasing ’51 Hornet locally that is 95% complete, if I buy it and any member needs some parts, I may be able to help? I hope to complete and drive my car to the Laughlin November meet.

What is the problem with the current drive train?0

Dan, as much as I enjoyed my past Hornet's with 308 Twin-H set ups, I now want the convenience of new modern day drive train with four wheel disc brakes, power steering, brakes etc; also when and if required the peace of mind knowing I can secure required parts immediately having car repaired any time or anywhere I'm driving.

Looked and purchased '51 Hornet w/o title today, I figured it would be good to use as live manual; whenever in doubt during restoration we can check '51sedan which I realize isn't the same as my '52 coupe. Took some pictures, however the car was too close to cyclone fence and I couldn't open the hood and take front shots of car. I'd say the car is well over 90% complete and at a later date, I'll remove pork chops w/stainless inserts, three Hornets, front bumper, grill, rear bumper and interior dash chrome board and have polished prepped and plated offering to club members or eBay auction. I would think th rear window is worth some money, right front windshield also isn't cracked. From what I could see the engine is there, but not with Twin-H set up. Too bad it doesn't have title, from what I can see the car has body surface rust, also interior front floor pans, will know more about the car after it's picked up next weedend. Going to start on my '52 Hornet couple this weekend and hopefully as the months pass, I'll post progress pictures, in the mean time this is what the car looks like now.
