Another question... fuel tank senders....

Okay, I got a new question...

Waht is the sender equivalent for the fuel tank that people are using?

I heard there is a FORD sender that is similar enough to modify to work, for stepdowns.

I think the year range is something like 1936-1962 or somewhere in there?

Anyone got more specific information as to what needs to be done to make this work, if I am on the right track? Is it a six hole mount?

Again, any information is greatly appreciated.

I hope to get this thing running, again....

Ford Truck part #01A-9275. The arm will have to be slightly bent. Was still available from Ford dealers last I heard. Also from Dennis Carpenter, Classic Ford, etc. Also available from Stewart-Warner.

I got my last two from Mac's Antique Auto Parts in NY. Mac's has a wb site and I think they have an on-line catalog. www.macautoparts.com The senders work well on 12 volts as well as 6.The first one went into my 49 Super six, (12 volts) the next one went into a 54 Hornet also 12 volts. Both work just fine with no alterations to the car....except the tank in the 54 is a home made one and the screw holes were wrong.Someone put the sender in upside down! No wonder it kept showing an empty tank.. A little JB weld fixed that. Good Luck, Dave W Fl
