Hypoid gear oil
The repair manuel says to use 90 SAE hypoid oil in the rear end and transmission. I used to be able to find it since a lot of marine transmissions called for it. The last few times I went to get it, all the parts stores had was 80W 90 gear oil. Is that the same thing or should I try harder?

If straight SAE 90 hypoid fluid is what you're after, go to your friendly local Ford dealer's parts department and ask for a gallon of Motorcraft XY-90-GL. It costs about $35.00. Good luck.0

NAPA or any other parts store has what you need. If you don't see it, ask.0
