Okay, we need some hudson topics, one that I think may be fun, is what's your favorite hudson color(s)

here are a few of mine....

Oriental green (same as my 50)

Peacock green (not too bad)

Jefferson green (guess I like green)

Roman Bronze! (from 54)

Broadway blue (from 52?)

piedmont green (is that the super dark green that looks almost black? 48-9)

what are yours?

  • Toro Red, I felt that way even before I got my Jet!

Depends on the model year and body style. There's some cars that are just meant to have a certain color...it just fits right.

Both mine are painted with modern paints though. Dark pearl-green metallic ('50 P) and Dark pearl-blue metallic. ('47 C8)

Almost all '54's seem to look better two-toned.

I agree, we need to define which body style. I painted a 54 Hollywood Palm Beach Green and Ivory two tone. I think It looks great. The same colors on my 49 Super Four door might make me puke!

Yes it is, but it should be FLAT black.:D
  • For the older cars, I am partial to whatever OEM color the VIN, sales ticket or paint tag says it should be.

Now, If I could do a full strip and dip and start as if it was coming off the line, I would go with modern paint in the same metalic blue that the NY Giants helmuts are painted. I like that blue.

My wife's '69 Chevelle Malibu will be a dark purple with iridescent tones changing to subtle shades of green and a hint of orange as you move past it.

Resale Red. Lately, when the option was open, I always selected Red. Red always makes a car look good and makes it sell better--if you must sell it. By the way, in a photo class back in college many decades ago we were taught that white is the absence of color and black is a combination of all colors. This being true (if you are a artist you have a different concept of color) Black has to be the best color by default?
  • Marina Blue, It has a sparkle without being overpowering.
    Bob
  • Peacock Green on a 50 P brghm.

The Texas Tan of 1952 is picks up the setting sun like no color I have ever seen. Also the maroon of the steering wheel in the sunlight is a terrific color.
  • For stepdowns I like Black, but the car better be straight. Others are toro red, jefferson green and I like the light yellows (coupes and conv only), whether the color is original or not. The kids oriental blue/green is great for any of the earlier stepdowns. We found a perfect match for that one when it got repainted.

I like the 49 in RM, Red/Maroon. Actually these are 2 late 80s Chrysler colors.
