  • I think this was the one done by Tom Borkhuis from Tennessee. He had it for sale at the Pigeon Forge meet in 2005 It was a beautiful restoration. A RARE Hudson built vehicle.
  • Yes, this is the truck restored by Ron Borkhuis. He has it at Gateway on consignment.

well hope whoever picks it up will decide to join the HET club if they're not already a member. Would love to see it at next years' national.

The '09 National ideally should have all the makes: Hudson, Essex, Terraplane, Dover, Railton, Brough-Superior, Essex-Terraplane, and Hudson-Terraplane ('38 only)

Great looking screen side and I for one must admit that this is the first time I have heard of Dover. Would one of you historians fill us in on how Dover started and why and when they became a Hudson.

    Thanks,

    Brownie

Well Brownie hopefully one of the other historian minded guys on this thread can fill in the gaps in my knowledge in another post about the Marque's development and who was responsible but what I do know is the Dover make was created a spin off line of vehicles from the popular Essex series for the HMCC to diversify it's offerings and to sell commercial vehicles. Supposedly the name tied it to an English pedigree like the name "essex" This was in the late '20's before the crash when Hudson and Essex were riding high in sales. Supposedly a lions share of Dover delivery trucks went to the US Postal Service in Government orders but other buinesses bought them as well. Then after the crash HMCC dropped the Dover Marque in an effort to stop hemmoraging red-ink and didn't offer factory commercial vehicles again till the mid '30s under the Terraplane nameplate.

Other historians on the forum feel free to correct if I have typed in any inaccuracies.
