weber carb question
How come I can only log in every so often. it really gets me. Anyway I'm considering puting the triple side draft webers on the 232 im building. I would like to get more power in the upper rpm's. I've been told webers are the way to go vs twin h. If any of you guys have info, please chime in. I like the advanced tuning of the webers and have used them in the past on british cars, but what will the effects be on the inline six. I want to build top speed on this thing and am using a 232 to get a faster spinning engine. Also I contacted clifford and they need to order 5 to make a new batch. Anybody. . . or do one of you guys have one?

FYI
Never tried Webers but see different sizes on EBay regularly....0 -
One of Clifford's earlier versions of a Weber intake system
I believe the seller is Earl Huffman from Bellevue Nebraska.0 -
Way too much money for the condition these carbs are in. This needs a complete rebuild and that won't be cheap!0

Contact my father, Randy Maas he has a few manifolds laying around and can tell you the right size Weber's to use on you engine

What will you use for a cylinder head on the 232 build?

Here's a trial fit on a Super Wasp
Not much room to fit a decent breather, and keep your stock inner fender too.
The long hooded Hudsons have a body-to-frame support bracket in the way of the carburetors, you'll have to dispense with that to fit the webers. You'll still get mighty close to the inner fender.
I wish Clifford had chosen IDA webers rather than DCOE webers. Then, they'd stick upward instead of outward. We need somebody to fabricate some 90* adapters to hitch IDA's up to those manifolds.
Randy has more run-time on webers n' Hudsons than anybody I know. Right now, I just have mine mocked up on a spare engine to keep my dreams alive.

FYI 232 Inspiration
Forgot to mention that one of the truly quickest street Hudson's I ever owned was a '50 Pacmaker Brougham... On the 'streets' I went against a tough 'std shift' Dodge red Ram V8, 55 chevy 265', Ford 312, '57 Imperial, among others. It had 4.55 gears and (I thought) a Hornet motor but being only 17 at the time, I didnt know the difference until later, just a 232....0 -
I saw the ebay set up and wanted to e-mail that guy and let him know that the price is a little high. I could more than likely get a new set of webers and intake for that. I've been quoted prices of between 150 and 250 to rebuild these carbs, just so you guys know. What I'm trying to do is take this engine from stock than add some some speed parts one at a time so we can have a good idea of exactly what each mod will gain as far as performance. I'm going to use the 232 head for now, than I will have it milled during the next round. any suggestions on how much to take off? My ultimate goal is to see what kind of top speed the 232 can produce, lighter car, higher rpm, higher hp at higher rpm, should make for a faster car than the hornet, at least in theory. let me know if you guys have any ideas.0

You should be able to get new carbs for about $350 ea. and a new manifold for around $300 (I think that is what I bought mine for). So the $1,500 is way over the top for the ebay job.0

did you buy spanish or italian?0

did you buy spanish carbs, that seems cheap to me, if they are italian, let me know where you got them.0

Here you go. I only have the manifold so far not ready to do a build up for a while, but wanted to make sure I got one of them before they were gone.
