Gittin' her back on the road....

After what seems like forever, (a couple of cold months) I got the old '36 'Plane fired up today. Installed the new, split manifold and while I was at it ended up going through most of the running gear to bring it up to snuff.

She needed a couple of head bolts where the old ones were broken off, a fuel pump and a carb rebuild, rebuilt and upgraded the radiator. I ended up cleaning what looked like 30 years of old crud out of the bottom of the oil pan.

Brought the plugs and points back into spec (makes me wonder how she ran so good) and then I replaced all the gaskets. After the usual retiming and wire hook-up she fired up and ran smoothly. That split mani, really makes her sing! I don't have any mufflers on yet, but I am planning on putting on a couple of the Smitty glasspacs that I have around here.

I'm anxious to get out on the road once I complete the exhaust and give some of you fellers a report on any power gain.

Way to go Slim, dual glass packs will make her echo across the mtns !! Be neat if you could do a sound video !! Know what you mean by down time, got the seats out of mine redoing them and can't wait to get back in it !! Bud
