In Search of a Hudson Super Six

Hi there folks!

I am currently researching the Hudson Super Six. I am a librarian working on a project called The Big Read (www.neabigread.org) with the Orange Library Association and the National Endowment for the Arts. We have chosen the book "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck and are working on coordinating an antique car and motorcycle show on Sunday, October 19, 2008 here in Goshen, Orange County, New York. We have been trying to locate a Hudson Super Six to display at our show, since that is the car the Joad family (from the book) owned and converted into a truck.

Tom Lloyd of Orange County Antique Auto Club is helping me coordinate this event, but so far, no one in the club owns a Hudson. Or so far, no one in the Hudson Valley of New York, owns a Hudson!

I came across your website and wondered if anyone here would consider showing your Hudson car here in Orange County, New York. We are currently planning to hold this event (free to the public) at our Orange Ulster Boces Campus, which is in Goshen, New York.

Please let me know if you have any interest, or can direct me to someone who might be available to display their Hudson.

I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you!

A Paoli, Library Assistant

Greetings! You have hit the right spot!

I htink the Joads would have driven a 1925-27 Hudson. I'll bet there's someone in New York with such a car; maybe you could entice them with free lunch, or something!

I've just contacted the presidents of the New Jersey chapter and of the closest New York chapter of the Hudson club, and asked if they know about such a car in your area. I've asked them to post an answer directly to this thread or to contact me (and I'll post an answer here).

Pete: I'll leave it to an expert like you, to identify... Here's the "real McCoy"

I'm no expert, but I would believe 26 or so. The front looks very similar to my dads 27. It's on the other side of NY, but I'm sure he's not up for taking it that far. Cool picture though...

There is a 24 and a 25 in central MA owned by 2 different people. If I had your email I'd tell ya who they are. Who knows, if ya pay the bills, they might get em out.

There are a few in NY but are all on the West end.

Yeah knowing the feelings of some of the early pre-war Hudson owners I'd have the organizing car club offer to spring to pay to have their Hudson towed to and from the show if it's any significant distance. Didn't someone in the HET club own a Grapes of Wrath look-alike/replica Hudson ???!

Also most Hudson owners who may live in the area probably belong to the HET Club not other local clubs, barring an AACA chapter.

Here's a 15 that showed up at the AACA meet in Binghamton last year. It lives in Eastern NY near the Canadian Border
