Channel - LH Glass Rest Rear Door

I believe I have the correct part name. I finally have all the new weather stripping etc to reinstall my LH Read door glass.

I have a small problem. I had a PC problem and lost the picture of the window when I removed it.

When looking at the door from the INSIDE, does the Glass Rest have the larger hole forward or rearward?

Hello Pacemaker, I checked a sedan LR door, the larger hole is rearward.

  • Thank you.

I have tried both ways today and neither of them seem to be right. I know one of them is.

I have the channel properly placed on the glass as I marked the old glass so I do not think that is the issue.

I will go at it again tomorrow.

500,you must first measure and then cut to fit the window weatherstrip, making sure that it fits in the channel slot and is hooked in at the bottom.Push it into the opening, verify that it fits, then pull it back out, install the window in the regulator, center the window in the track. Now slide the pre-fit weatherstrip over the glass and down into the door. When it is in place properly, you should be able to push the w/strip into the top of the window frame and then re-install the inside window trim.
  • maybe this is it, on my "T" I had to have the part the glass goes in on the car, then put the glass in it, would'nt work putting it on the glass and then on the car if that's what your trying to do. Bud
  • I will give these new tips a try. The glass is centered on the lift track correctly. I do have all the new weather stripping ready to go. I just have not tried doing it all together. Body Manual does not mention these tips.

I am just not getting the lift track key hole correct somehow. The lift arm engages it nicely when I have the key hole forward but VictorZ states it should be the otherway.
  • If I understand what your saying that';s what you DON"T want it to do. Sometimes takes a bit of manuevering and get the track just right, but you want it oposite the hole when in place so it don't become dissengaged. Hope I said that right. Bud

Hello PaceMaker, tonight I will check the window/channeling installation. I have a door with the outside skin cutout to see the inside workings of the door. I am making this door for a tech session showing the installation of the window channeling . I will post what I find out this evening.

Thank for your assistance. I have added that note to my Body Shop manual. I will be trying again this weekend when I have a second pair of hands in the garage.
