Is this a later 55-57 Twin H manifold? The casting has "5325118" on it between the carb mounts.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

  • Yes, it's a '55-'56 manifold. It doesn't have the "tube" on the front side like the '52-'54 manifolds have.

That's what I thought, but have never seen one installed. Will these work in a stepdown?

Yes, as pictured, they will work just fine. You must use the stepdown exhaust manifold or change your exhaust pipe diameter and angle to fit the Hash exhaust. There is an equalizer tube cast into the hash manifold. A simple change to clear the spring towers on the nash/Kenosha body.

Yes, the '55-'56 manifolds will work in a stepdown. There's one on my '54 Hollywood.

Like Dave said, you have to use a stepdown exhaust manifold, or change the way the angle/size of the exhaust pipe if you use the '55-'56 exhaust. Of course, my brother Corky eliminated that problem by going with the Clifford headers and dual exhaust.

I have a very nice "Hash-type" exhaust manifold. Heat riser works freely. Has been welded, but in service long after with no problems. Also have the proper exhaust pipe to use it on a stepdown. Used but in excellent condition. Planning on bringing both to the Central Regional in Dayton.

Dog gone it.. Bill is right. I checked my parts stash and the stepdown exhaust won't mate up. Gotta use the whole thing..The exhaust pipe hook up shouldn't be to big of a problem though. Sorry to put misinformation out there.

Thanks to all for the information. It's been said a million times on here, but this forum is an invaluable source of HET information.

I plan on using an exhaust header when I get to it. I'm just making sure that the parts I do have are going to work.
