I thought this discussion of door fitting from Rays 52 thread could warrant a life of its own...

Sorry couldn't resist!
Door pillar damage aside - the biggest problem I've seen with Hudson doors (I'm not a Hudson expert ..but I do have 8 Hudson doors to work on which should semi-qualify me to some point.) is that the spot welds break loose where the hinge pockets are welded to the doors then the doors doors sag and fatigue causing the metal to split as well.
Here's a series of pictures and descriptions of the Right Rear Passenger Door Repair I did on the 50 Super = it now shuts with nary a fingertip of pressure - I still need to install seals and new striker plates - but it'll close like a dream for sure!

Good Moning Chaz,
Thanks for message...In my case when removing the door last year I experienced difficulties and must of use too much force, therefore post will require a little additional TLC; but it will be right and lined up correctly.
Stay well,,
Ray
If it doesn't come off...get a bigger hammer

Good Morning Dan,
Thanks for comprehensive helpful feedback with corrective action explanation and detailed instruction pictures which I have forwarded onto builder/restorer working on my car. Throughout all the years I experienced of owning various Hudson's; heavy doors at least my case were always a problem. As I mentioned several times before FORUM is most fortunate in having some members like your good self in passing on benefit of repair experience's.
Thanks again,

Great info and a comment. When I installed my doors and front fenders on my 53 4 door I did so with what I thought at the time improved lines. I crowded the fitted door and fender gaps to less than .125" between doors and fenders alike. I then went to install the hood only to find it ended up sticking out past front fenders about .375". Not being willing to part with the nicely fitted doors and fenders I had to spend hours retapering the sides of the hood and cutting the back of it off bending and shaping to refit cowl.
Sometimes one is ones worst enemy!0
