I just spotted this on the internet. A car on the Hudson Terraplane Ruggedness Run pauses in front of the Shamrock Service station, Bridgeway and Marysville Cutoff, Everett, Washington, in November 1934. Apparently the local dealer was "Swenson Motors".

The guys in your shop probably never hear of Johnny Carson or Carroll Burnett, either!
  • Bill, if I remember correctly she was a movie star/dancer/singer. Is that the Kate Smith you're talking about?

Tom's got it. The two (Kate and the song) are inseparable in the minds of anyone who was teenage or older back then.
  • Her sister lived in Riverdale, Md. in the early 50's. I almost bought a 1932 Ford 5 window coupe from her. It had a small rust spot in the lower left cowl, V8 and all $125.00. Dummy me.

Any one remember the Kate Smith TV show? Her theme song was When the moon comes over the mountain. Or something like that.
