"Surprise, It's Overdrive"

Even in all the time I spent under the car, I never noticed UNTIL today that I have an overdrive unit. I have new 6-ton jack stands that go up to 24". Makes is lot easier for me under there now.



I was making preps to drain the gear box and saw these wires coming out the back. Mind you the gear box is covered in 60 years of road gunk. WOW, I thought, better get out the manual and start reading.



I was concerned about having to remove the gear box because of "fresh" oil at the ends (thinking leaky seals). But I took the time to measure the gear oil when I drained it. I was just short of 2 pints and the OD unit was just short 1.25 pints. So, after 40 years of sitting, it is not as bad as I thought. I'll will clean everything and check after I refill.
