  • How about fully reclining front seats for your drive in theater enjoyment, or as I think Hudson suggested, you will never need a motel room again.

  • rear wiper ? cool!!!

on a side note, you know that that Hudson had an
automatic convertible right? well why has not anyone invented a
gosh darn automatic car cover? thats right get this, no more bird doo
and throw in a zipper or Velcro door and what do you have? an insta-
tent to go with those fold down seats. then you could use that great wrap around window as a projection television somehow!

How about keyed door handles so you can lock the car. My unrestored 36 & 37 Ts dont have any keyed door handles. However my Australian 1940 Hudson has a keyed door handle on the passenger side (LHS) only. So next time you go to lock the drivers door, imagine how it would be if the only door lock was on the other side of the car.

And congratlations - you beat HudsonKid to ask this question. Regards, Barry

  • Barry, on a US car the key would be on the drivers door. The reason the key is on the passenger door is to remind the driver to open his wife's door before he gets in, that is why it's on the left down under. It's on the left in the US so our wife can run ahead and hold the door for us. Rumble seats and then radios were invented because of mothers-in-laws. Eventually women got the right to vote and rumble seats were outlawed. In their place headphones were invented.

There are several pages of accessory lists in my General Information Handbook - some, particularly in the 50's, are factory issued bulletins giving the weight of the accessory; ie, Aluminum Cylinder Head, 1950 Pacemaker - 24# (fm bulletin DL.50-3, dtd 11-29-49, titled "Weights of Optional Equipment "500" Series"

You can have your very own Handbook for $15 for a CD or $25 for a printed copy in a 3 ring binder.
