Step down six water pump question.

I measured four used water pumps that I have and find that there are three different measurements from the mounting surface to the face of the fan/pulley mounting flange. I understand that there were two different ones. The standard non power steering pumps and the double pulley Power Steering models, so I assume there should only be two measurements?Anyone know what the propper measurements SHOULD be? I want to make a jig to set up my press to be able to do them correctly.

  • Dave, There Should Be Only Two Different Lengths On Shaft. I Have A Good Rebuilder Who Does Mine. I Sell Them For 75 Exchange Some Builders Press The Shafts To Different Llengths Probably Why You Came Up With One Odd One, Bill Albright

The dimension from the mounting surface to the face of the fan/pulley mounting flange should be 5 5/32 inches.

I ran into this same problem. Since I don't have power steering, I slotted my generator bracket to accomodate the different depths.
