34 Hudson Data Tag/Vin Tag

Hey! Does anyone know what a 34 five window Hudson coupe's vin tag looks like? When i got my body for my hotrod, there was nothing left but rust. In Connecticut you need to bring the car in for vin verification...as cars that old don't require a title...(even though I have one). So it seems I am in a catch 22. No tag no reg....If I try to register it without the tag, then they want to register it as a composite car which requires 2008 emissions equipment......If anyone has any ideas...I sure could use some help!

Jere, I believe that the serial number in 1934 was stamped on a small plate attached to the passenger side front pillar (below the windshield). If it's been removed, there were traditionally two other places where it would have been stamped:



1) On the frame just back of where the front axle passes beneath it, on the passenger side (I can't recall whether it's on the top or outside of the frame.) If your body has a sort of angled brace that comes down and bolts to the frame (in front of the firewall) it may be in the gap between that brace, and the rest of the body.



2). On the rear axle, passenger's side, facing up, just to the right of the center.

The 34 VIN tag is on the firewall, right side. Rectangular shape about 3X6 ". Repro plates are available as I have seen them at Hershey. Do you have the frame with the body?

How about a few pictures? I've got a 34 Coupe myself that I've been working on. It's sort of a resto rod. I'm keeping the body somewhat stock, other than the shaved doors and no bumpers and have it riding on a boxed frame with a MustangII front end, 410 HP 350 and a Turbo 350 transmission. I'm in the process of finishing the body work now. Walt

I will see what I can do with the pictures. My car sits on a custom chassis. About 1/2 the firewall is left...and no rear end. There is not much left.....just the doors and deck lid. So I have no numbers. If anyone knows where I can get the repro plate I would really appreciate it!
