Help With Brake Shoe Selection?
Putting all new brakes on a '53 Hornet. We have two new sets of front shoes which were purchased some time ago with the idea that they would fit but I don't know where we got them any more. After installation, they appear too high in the drum (looks like the anchor is too high but it's all the way down) and binding on the top of the secondary shoe even with the adjuster all the way in. The book calls for .177 thickness on brake shoes but I now see that the primary shoe lining is about right but the secondary lining in about .250. This is a big part of the problem. Does anybody have a number for shoes that fit correctly without any issues?

Same thing with Ford shoes ... they look "exactly" like the correct ones, but the anchor pin notch is a bit lower on the shoe.0
